War Pension Services

1: WAR DISABILITY PENSION
This is a monitory award for NZ servicemen who have a disability or ailment attributable to their service. You can claim for any medical ailment or disability which you feel was caused by your military service. The disability pension is paid at a percentage rate between 5% and 100% which relates in dollar terms between $16 and $324 per fortnight. The two scenarios regarding the success of an application are as follows:

Veteran served in a War or Emergency
In this case the onus of proof regarding the link between your service and medical condition is in the veterans favour. In other words War Pensions have to accept or disprove your claim.

Veteran has routine service - only before 1974
In this case the veteran has to prove their case most likely with information shown in their service medical records. After 1974 claims are made to ACC.
It is beneficial to have a set of your service medical records as we all forget things that happened years ago that now could be important to your application. You can get your documents from – Naval Medical records, RNZN Naval Base, Devonport, Auckland. FormltrMedicalrecord.pdf

The Application
Your application for this pension must be made on the War Disablement Pension Application form and an article follows on the correct proceedure.  ApplicationforWarPension.pdf
